I am writing to express my strongest support for Dr. Jeremy D. Greene as a candidate for a seat on the Natomas USD Board of Trustees. I have known Jeremy since Spring 2004, when he became a student in my Advanced Argument and Critical Thinking class at Folsom Lake College, and that Fall as a student in my Intro. to Literature class. In both classes he excelled, showing a level of research, analysis, and creativity seen usually at the university level. He was clearly a leader, acknowledged as such by his classmates, and worked remarkably well with all of them, helping his groups achieve their goals with distinction.

As a Stanford-educated, Ph.D.-holding professor, I asked a great deal of my students to prepare them for successful transfer to the research university level. Jeremy went on to UC Davis, where he continued to excel, and then earned his Master’s degree at CSU Sacramento. His strong work ethic and ability to connect and collaborate with men and women from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds stood him in good stead as he worked as a school psychologist at the K-12 level and as a professor of school psychology and counseling at the college level. We celebrated together when he earned his Ed.D., which has enabled him to teach at the highest levels of academia, notably at the University of the Pacific. His experience working and learning at all these levels—elementary school, middle school, high school, community college, state university, research university, and private university—enables him to assess, understand, and help resolve the kinds of educational issues and policy alternatives facing school boards throughout California, particularly in our local area. As a person who spent years working at the state policy level as well as at the local community college district level, I know Dr. Greene has the background and the long-term dedication to education to make him highly valuable as a board member.

On a personal level, Dr. Greene’s enthusiasm, sense of humor, and ability to make people feel seen and heard make him a great colleague and friend. I give Dr. Jeremy D. Greene my strongest support in his journey towards becoming an elected member of the Natomas USD Board of Trustees.
